The inspiration for this production was  birthed solely from my desire to provide a slice of an intimate, memorable experience for those who also share the same appetite for the arts and its unforgiving expression of individuality, culture, OUR stories, and undoubtedly life

This production of Ntozake Shange's play "For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When The Rainbow Is Enuf" is an urban fresh take infused with music, dance , and injected with elements of African culture.  In an effort to capture the rawness of Ntozake's stories, I consciously casted women who did not have prior acting experience but possess the passion and connectivity to the play. With the help of my cast, we modernized the play by making references to current events and local places throughout Boston. Lastly, I incorporated an African drummer, Themba Mkhatshwa, and created a character the lady who sings, played by Musu-kulla Massaquoi, to enhance the experience and overall intimacy of the production.

As part of the initiative to expose other forms of art, there will be a celebratory photo montage of woman of color photographed by Nicole Escalera, and a specialty  themed art display by local artist Todd Johnson whose work will also be auction on the day of the show.
